Tears As 4-Day-Old Twins Killed In Gaza Strike As Father Briefly Leaves To Get Birth Certificates
Tragedy struck in Gaza as newborn twins, Aysal and Aser, just four days old, were killed along with their mother and grandmother in an airstrike.
Sky News reports that their father, Mohammed Abu al Qumsan, had left their home in Deir al Balah, central Gaza, to collect their birth certificates earlier on Tuesday.
When he returned, he was met with the devastating news that his entire family had perished in the attack.
The twins, born over the weekend, had their lives brutally cut short, leaving their father to mourn the loss of his loved ones.
The Israeli military has yet to comment on the airstrike that killed the family of newborn twins.
According to local reports, the family had been forced to flee their home in northern Gaza and were seeking refuge in the southern region.
A heart-wrenching video circulating on social media captures the father’s anguish, as he is comforted by bystanders while clutching what appears to be the birth certificates of his deceased children.
The father’s wails gradually subside, and he seems to lose consciousness, requiring support from two men to stay upright.
Joumana Arafa, a pharmacist and the twins’ mother, had given birth to the babies via Cesarean section and shared the joyful news of their arrival on Facebook.
Tragically, her husband’s moment of joy was short-lived. On Tuesday, he had visited a local government office to register the twins’ births, but while he was there, he received a devastating call from neighbors informing him that their temporary home had been struck by a bomb, leaving his family in ruins.
“I don’t know what happened,” he said. “I am told it was a shell that hit the house.”
According to the Associated Press, the couple had complied with the military’s instructions to evacuate Gaza City during the initial weeks of the conflict, relocating to the central region of the territory as directed in search of safer shelter.
