Pray For Me, Kemi Olunoyo, Begs Nigerians For Prayers
The Nigerian investigative journalist and Blogger is enduring as a result of ill health – and has called for prayers.
The 56-year-old said on February 9 she had parted with nearly N250,000 – in the last 48 hours – spent on drugs and other stuff, and slammed authorities for making things difficult for her.
Olunloyo wrote on Instagram she “can’t walk around too much”, a situation she said was compounded by her arrest in Rivers State four years ago, which left her with a disorder known as Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
She wrote, alongside an image of her swollen legs believed to have been taken on February 8, 2021: “My dear loyal fans, don’t worry about me. I will continue [to] tweet my mind from my sick bed at least 3 times daily. Maybe not Instagram and Facebook.
“My foot and legs are swollen and I’m not diabetic. Tomorrow’s Doppler will rule out deep vein thrombosis. Keep praying for me I’m bedridden and must elevate these legs up for blood flow.
“A little pain. Can’t walk around too much coupled with my #ptsd from the SARS arrest in the Port Harcourt case 4 yrs ago, a new osteoporosis diagnosis in my hands and bone degenerating with age, I’m totally sad and overwhelmed.
she said.
However, Olunloyo also made it known that her ill health won’t stand in the way on Saturday, February 13, when she would be joining protesters in Lagos State to demonstrate against the reopening of the Lekki tollgate that was shut down after the October 20, 2020 massacre.
“Yes I will be at that Lekki tollgate Saturday just like the sick are brought in to your church crusades for HEALING. We are all victims of Nigeria,” she said.
The journalist also explained why she was not seeking treatment abroad, especially in the US where she spent most of her years, saying it is because “I no longer have health insurance there as I no longer work there”.
She added that the “whole place is Covid 19 infected. Something I should be far away from”.
Many have sent in their supports in words of encouragement and also financially.
“Please help me thank “Aunty ESABOD” Dr Tokunbo Aboderin in Dublin, Ireland and her fans @esabodofficialpage . She just sent me money for some of my medical tests and procedures,” Olunloyo acknowledged.
“I have spent close to 250K in the last 48 hours on many things. MRI pending 100K, Doppler 40k per leg venous and or arterial, doctor bills, specialist fees etc etc. If the health sector worked for me I won’t be experiencing this. Our Politicians have estacodes that allow them to go abroad or get fully paid care,” she said.
One of her followers said, “U are heal completely in jesus name amen”
Another prayed, “Strong mind doctor Kemi. ‘Your immune system actually finds strength from a good attitude’ Dig deep and find joy & gratitude. You are great woman. No sadness today.”
“God is with you all through ma, you will get well with no issues,” a third added.
