Policeman ‘Kills Man Over Refusal To Give Bribe’
A police officer attached to the Yauri Division of Kebbi State Police Command has allegedly killed a 20-year-old resident of the state identified as Ahmed Ibrahim, over his refusal to give a bribe demanded by the officer.
The deceased’s brother, Jabir Ibrahim, who spoke on the matter said Ahmed was killed at around noon on Wednesday in the Zamare area of Yauri Local Government Area.
Demanding justice for the deceased, Jabir said, “Ahmed Ibrahim is my blood brother. He was killed by a police officer yesterday in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State as a result of little disagreement (money related issues).
“The boy was very hard-working and respectful. He was a real hustler who was always struggling to make his life better but he was killed by a police officer.
“I’m in severe pain, I am still finding it very difficult to accept the fact that this innocent boy was killed by a police officer.
“I’m the only person that can stand for this boy, he has no father, no mother, they’re all dead. He was an orphan who was struggling day and night to make his life better but he was killed just like that.
“Ahmed was just 20 years old. Our father died before he was born but look at what happened to him.
“We need justice, I can’t let it slide. He was unjustly killed by a police officer. We need justice, I can’t let it slide.”
But the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, said he was yet to get details of the incident and promised to make inquiries.
The police spokesperson said, “Let me make inquiries and get back to you.”
