JUST IN: FG To Bar Polytechnic Graduates From NYSC
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that polytechnic and monotechnic graduates who lack proof of completing the mandatory one-year Industrial Training (IT) will be barred from participating in national service.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, the NYSC Coordinator for Lagos State, disclosed this development.
Baderinwa stated that the NYSC has issued a circular enforcing this policy. “It has come to our attention that some polytechnic and monotechnic graduates bypass the mandatory one-year IT before enrolling in Higher National Diploma (HND) programs,” she said. “The one-year IT is essential for HND admission. Graduates must complete this IT period and provide evidence before being accepted into HND programs. Educational institutions must verify this before admission.”
She added that this directive would be implemented starting from the next orientation camp, and any candidate who has not completed the IT will not be registered.
Baderinwa emphasized that this measure aims to uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s educational system. According to her, prospective corps members who are HND graduates will need to present proof of IT completion before they can be registered at any NYSC orientation camp.
