Tinubu Govt Offers N500,000 Per Street To Dissuade Residents From Joining Protests
President Bola Tinubu’s government has been accused of bribeing residents in some Lagos streets with N500,000 per street to discourage them from participating in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests. Oluwakemi Akeem Sherifat, a protester, made this revelation on Monday in Ojota, Lagos, and called on President Tinubu to resign if he is no longer committed to delivering good governance. Sherifat also criticized Tinubu’s student loan policy, arguing that it would be challenging for students to repay the loans given the high unemployment rate in the country.”
She said, “All students have turned into s3x workers. If they took loans, how will they pay it back? Will they steal or engage in fraud (Yahoo). Our children cannot afford education. My daughter ended up working as a maid after she finished Senior Secondary School 1 and there was no financial capacity to allow her to further her education. This is because we don’t have money, there is no money to eat.
“For instance, I went to take Garri on credit for my children to eat last night. My husband has been jobless since he lost his job. I have sold all my belongings. All these happened after Tinubu’s inauguration.
“This suffering is too much. If Tinubu does not leave the seat of the Presidency in peace, he may be removed by force. Tinubu should resign if he can’t deliver good governance to Nigeria.”
“Tinubu has misled us in this country. His people gave each street N500,000 not to join the protest (in Lagos). I swear by Allah that each street was given N500,000 not to join the protest,” she added.
“We are here to fight for our rights. I need a job, I am into POS business. I don’t have money to run the POS. This country is getting hard, it is not easy for everyone,” another protester lamented.”
