Again, Tinubu’s Sole Administrator Ibas Fails To Appear Before Reps Committee
Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has once again failed to appear before the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight, despite being invited for an interactive session.
The committee, constituted by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and inaugurated on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, had initially scheduled the meeting for Thursday, April 17, before rescheduling it to April 24 at Ibas’s request.
The session was expected to provide clarity on political and administrative developments in Rivers State since his appointment as sole administrator.
However, despite being present in Abuja for the National Economic Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Vice Admiral Ibas did not attend the rescheduled committee session.
It remains unclear whether a formal invitation letter was sent to or acknowledged by the Rivers State administrator, as the committee has not disclosed details regarding the communication process.
Committee Chairman, Rep. Julius Ihonvbere, and other members were seen leaving Committee Room 301 at the National Assembly Complex without addressing the media. When approached, Ihonvbere declined to comment, simply stating, “No comment.”
With Ibas’s continued absence, the committee has postponed the session indefinitely, raising fresh questions about transparency and accountability in the ongoing political situation in Rivers State.
