BUA Chairman Pledges $1.5 Million Bonus to Super Eagles Ahead of AFCON Semi-Finals
Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced cash rewards of up to $1.5 million for the Super Eagles following their qualification for the semi-finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Rabiu made the pledge in a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, January 10, 2026, shortly after Nigeria’s 2–0 victory over Algeria. He praised the national team for what he described as a brilliant performance that lifted the morale of Nigerians nationwide.
“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria,” Rabiu wrote. “You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals.”
According to the businessman, the team will receive a $500,000 bonus if they win their semi-final match. He also promised an additional $50,000 for every goal scored in that game.
Rabiu further revealed an even bigger incentive should the Super Eagles go on to lift the AFCON trophy. He pledged a $1 million reward for winning the final, along with $100,000 for each goal scored in the decisive match.
“Should you go on to win the final, I further pledge USD $1,000,000, plus USD $100,000 for each goal scored in the final,” he stated.
He concluded by encouraging the players to continue giving their best for the country. “Wishing you continued success as you carry Nigeria forward. Keep making Nigeria proud. Proudly Nigerian,” Rabiu added.
Nigeria booked their place in the semi-finals after defeating Algeria 2–0 on Saturday in Marrakech. Goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams early in the second half secured the victory and set up a semi-final clash against tournament hosts Morocco.
The win sparked celebrations across the country, with many Nigerians and corporate leaders throwing their support behind the Super Eagles as they push for continental glory.
