In an effort to enhace their knowledge of Professional Military Education, Students of Senior Course 47 from the Department of Land Warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, undertook an operational visit to the Headquarters of 1 Division/Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Kaduna

The visit of the delegation led by the Director Department of Land Warfare, Brigadier General Nnaemeka Ogili, was aimed at exposing the students to real-time operational framework and contemporary security challenges within North-west Geo-political region of Nigeria.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Saraso, was represented by the Chief of Staff, Brigadier General David Nwakonobi who welcomed the delegation and urged the student officers to maximize the insights from the visit in shaping their future leadership roles within the military.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Ogili emphasized the evolving nature of warfare, stating that Nigeria’s security landscape now demands a greater reliance on human intelligence. He added that while military operations were traditionally aimed at countering external aggression, today’s internal threats from insurgents and bandits require a greater reliance on human intelligence.

Earlier, the sponsor Directing Staff Lt Col Michael Essien highlighted that the team comprised of 259 Students, 3 Chief Instructors, 12 Members of Directing Staff and 14 International Students from Allied Nations including Tanzania, Ghana, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Togo, Chad, Liberia, Gambia and Eswatini.
