Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly speaker, has tasked youths in the state to engage in profitable activities and stay away from vices that will ruin their future.
Rt. Hon. Bassey, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Charles Iwatt, made this known at St. Maurice’s Primary School, Eman Ikot Ebo, Uruan Local Government Area, during the grand finale of the 4th Edition of Eman Ikot Ebo Inter-Family Football Competition, on Sunday.
The Speaker, who has painstakingly supported youths across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state through his empowerment programme, the Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey Youth Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (RHAB-YESS), informed that the Udom Emmanuel-led administration is committed towards engagement and involvement of youths in governance, and driving social innovation.
He commended the sponsor of the Football Competition, Hon. Desmond Etim, for his dedication, steadfastness and commitment to the unity and progress of Uruan Local Government through sports development.
The Competition, which featured Six Families, was witnessed by the Executive Chairman of Uruan, Surveyor Iniobong Ekpeyong; his Vice, Mrs. Uduak Akpan; Leader of Uruan legislative Council, Hon. Sunday Bassey; Village Head of Eman Ikot Ebo, Etidung Christopher Okune; Hon. Nsikak Bassey; President Organized Uruan Youth Forum, Mr. Samuel Peter; Honourable Councillors, and sports enthusiasts.
Highpoint of the tournament were presentation of trophy and cash prizes to Nung Ekpe (1st Position Team), Nung Nya (2nd Position Team) and Nung Inyang Etukudo (3rd Position Team).
