BREAKING: Gunmen Ambush Bus, Kill Driver, Abduct Passengers

Few days after armed men attacked the advance team of the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, at a location near the Imo airport in Ngor-Okpala, Imo State, heavily armed men have again shot and killed a driver and abducted occupants of another vehicle in almost the same location on Sunday.

According to a release by the police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, the armed hoodlums were said to have sprung from the bush along the road at Amala, Ngor-Okpala, and shot the driver of a Toyota Highlander with registration number SMK 514 BD dead.

The hoodlums were also said to have attacked a Lexus RX 300 and abducted all occupants of the vehicle in the same operation.

Meanwhile, Okoye said the police have launched a manhunt for the attackers, vowing to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend all those involved.

His statement reads in part: “Preliminary findings indicate that at about 17:50 hrs, armed men emerged from a bush path at Amala, shot the driver of a Toyota Highlander Jeep (SMK 514 BD), and abducted the occupants of a Lexus RS300 (FSD 334 XA).

“On receiving the information, officers from Ngor-Okpala Division swiftly mobilised to the scene, secured the area, and evacuated the victim to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

“Consequently, joint security operatives have commenced bush-combing, search-and-rescue, and suspect-tracking within the Amala forest axis and surrounding communities. Investigations have commenced with promising progress made toward apprehending those responsible.

“The Imo State Police Command assures residents that all necessary resources are being deployed to rescue the victims and forestall future occurrences,” Okoye stated.
