Yilwatda Charges APC Council to Deliver Victory in FCT Elections

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has inaugurated the party’s National Campaign Council for the forthcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Election, charging members to mobilise extensively and secure total victory for the party.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held in Abuja on Friday, Prof. Yilwatda described the FCT election as a strategic political contest that demands unity, coordination, and robust grassroots mobilisation across all six Area Councils.
He commended members of the Campaign Council for accepting the responsibility to serve, noting that their appointment reflects the party’s trust and confidence in their dedication and loyalty.
“This party is your home. We must create room for inclusive participation and provide leadership that attracts Nigerians from every corner of the country,” he stated.
The APC National Chairman observed that the party continues to record an influx of new members from other political parties, which he described as evidence of growing national acceptance and confidence in the APC’s leadership.
Recalling the outcome of the last general election, Prof. Yilwatda noted that the party lost one key area to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He said the forthcoming Area Council election presents an opportunity to reclaim lost ground and further consolidate the party’s dominance in the FCT.
According to him, the Campaign Council will pursue two primary objectives: aggressive voter mobilisation and the deployment of well-structured strategies to ensure victory on election day.
He explained that the composition of the council reflects Nigeria’s geopolitical diversity, emphasizing that Abuja is home to residents from all parts of the country. Leaders from the South-South, South-East, North-Central, North-East, and North-West have been strategically assigned to mobilise residents from their respective regions living in the FCT.
“The FCT belongs to all Nigerians. If we execute our strategies effectively and work as a united party, victory is assured,” he added.
Prof. Yilwatda expressed confidence that with the commitment of party leaders and supporters, the APC would emerge victorious in the forthcoming election.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Campaign Council and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, pledged to deliver victory for the party. He thanked the APC leadership, particularly the National Chairman, for the confidence reposed in the council, assuring that members would intensify grassroots mobilisation and strengthen party structures to secure success at the polls.
The event was attended by party chieftains, members of the National Working Committee, governors, and other key stakeholders.
