Suspect Arrested For Attempted Murder Of 65-Year-Old Man With Hammer
A police unit, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), has arrested a suspect identified as Sodiq Ishola, for allegedly attacking a 65-year-old man with a hammer at Pako Bus Stop, Iyana Ipaja in Lagos.
The suspect, aged 29, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on Monday in the Iyana Ipaja area after he was restrained from injuring the aged man (name withheld).
“Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the suspect and one accomplice trailed the victim and his wife from Lagos Island on bike to Iyana Ipaja before Ishola descended on him,” RRS said in a statement.
“He had inflicted severe injuries to the head of his victim before RRS operatives on patrol arrested him.”
It was learnt that the victim was taken to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The suspect was transferred to RRS Headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja.
The RRS Commander, CSP Yinka Egbeyemi, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) for further investigation.
