Some Of Our Victims Were Kidnapped For N200,000, N95,000 Ransom; Bandit Informant Reveals Shocking
Ibrahim Nasarai, a resident of Dogo Ruwan Yan Magariya in Katsina State, has confessed to serving as an informant for bandits over the past four years.
In a video that has gone viral following his arrest, Ibrahim revealed that some individuals are being kidnapped and held for ransom amounts as low as N95,000 and N200,000.
Speaking in Hausa, Ibrahim said, “I promise to reveal to the authorities my role as bandit informant. I’ll disclose everything, the whole truth from the beginning to the end.”
When asked by the interrogator what he used to do before his arrest, Ibrahim said, “I’ve been an informant for bandits in my community for the past four years.” Speaking further, Ibrahim admitted being a bandit informant.
“I admit without being coerced to do so. And my reason is to give the authorities the needed cooperation since I’ve been exposed at last.”
According to Ibrahim, the bandits he works for “are to the south of our village, others to the west”
He said, “I swear that they (bandits) live in the bushes near the farmland. They are Danladi Tukur Mati, Sani Tukur, and Dandan Yargata who lives at Unguwar Iliya Makeri.
“It is easier to get them at Gyaza, where they often shop. They hardly come to my village; they prefer Gyaza.”
When asked for the number of times he had been part of a kidnap operation, Ibrahim said six times.
Identifying some of their victims, Ibrahim said, “The first is known as Aisha, who escaped after a day in captivity before even ransom could be negotiated.
“Jamila was the second who also regained freedom after one day in captivity when a ransom of N95,000 was paid. The third victim was Rabi, Salisu Abdullahi’s wife from Yan Magariya who escaped after two days while the bandits were sleeping.
“The next victim was Hassan, my nephew. He was released after I called Ya’u and told him my son, Hassan was abducted, then he requested N12,000 to fuel a motorcycle to return him home.
“N200,000 was demanded as ransom to release him. The money was sent to them, so they proceeded to get him from bandit kingpin, Danbafashi’s camp; but because he was not readily available, my nephew was not released immediately. However, he was brought back home later the same day.”
When the interrogator noted that Ya’u must be highly respected amongst bandit leaders, Ibrahim agreed, saying, “Of course, he’s Buzare’s protege.”
He, however, added that he did not know where Buzare was hiding.
“I swear to God I’ve no idea!” he said.
Regarding Ya’u, Ibrahim said, “Ya’u is somewhere at Ya-Sanya, around Dan-Isa.
