Nigerian Police Storm Bandits’ Den, Rescue 25 Women, Children

In what residents have described as a terrifying night of gunfire, bandits reportedly stormed Kuraje village in the Damba axis of Gusau LGA around 9:45pm on Friday, whisking away 10 women and 15 children in a brazen attack that sent shockwaves across Zamfara State.

However, the criminals didn’t get far before the police operatives got on their trail.

It was learnt that moments after the alarm was raised, joint teams of the Zamfara Police Command, supported by Community Protection Guards, launched a rapid, coordinated chase that forced the gunmen to abandon their captives.

Police operatives, according to official accounts, confronted the attackers in a heated engagement and successfully rescued all 25 kidnapped victims — unhurt and shaken but alive.

The survivors were immediately evacuated to Sabongari Damba for safety checks before reuniting with their families.

The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, hailed the operatives for what he called an act of professional gallantry, assuring the public that the Command remains fully committed to taking the fight to bandits across the state.

The Police spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the operation in a statement issued Saturday.
