Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, The honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has expressed happiness and joy with significant progress in the ongoing NIN-SIM linkage exercise.
The Minister said, the Federal Government is very happy for the commitment demonstrated by all stakeholders and citizens.
He further asked everyone who did not submit their NINs to do that before the 9th February 2021 deadline.
The Minister expressed his joy during the end of a review meeting on 18th January 2021, where committee on Technical Implementation under the Ministerial Task Force reported significant progress in the ongoing exercise in the country.
The total number of 47.8 million NINs has been linked According to the report, so far.
At an average of 3 to 4 SIMs per subscriber, this means before 9th February, 2021 almost all Nigerians will linked up.
The Minister also urged the technical team to make sure they fast-track the works so that the project is delivered on time.
The Committee drew attention to the App developed by the Government which can allows subscribers to link up to seven SIMs to their NIN.
The Minister urged subscribers not to sell their NINs or allowing others to use their NINs for registration. Also Nigerians to secure and protect their NINs,
“ Don’t play with NNs and SIMs, because any act committed with the SIM, good or bad, it will be officially traced and attached to the NIN owner,” the Minister warned Nigerians
