Video: Drama As Gov Okpebholo Struggles To Pronounce N605bn Budget Figure
A mild drama unfolded at the Edo State House of Assembly when Governor Monday Okpebholo struggled to pronounce the figures for the state’s 2025 budget.
During the presentation, a video surfaced showing the governor stuttering repeatedly while trying to articulate the budget figures, leading to widespread reactions on social media.
The clip quickly went viral, with many Nigerians commenting on the moment and expressing a mix of amusement and concern.
Platinumpost reports that Governor Okpebholo on Tuesday presented an estimated N605 billion for the 2025 fiscal year at the Edo State House of Assembly.
The budget, titled “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” reflects a 25 percent increase over the 2024 budget.
While unveiling the Appropriation Bill, the governor noticeably stuttered as he tried to pronounce the N605 billion mark.
Despite the hiccup, he pressed on with his presentation.
He outlined that 37 percent of the total budget, amounting to N223 billion, would be allocated to recurrent expenditure while the remaining N381 billion (63 percent) would go toward capital projects.
“This budget is a product of extensive consultations and embodies my administration’s commitment to achieving its five-point agenda: security, infrastructural development, healthcare, food sufficiency, and education,” Okpebholo stated.
Highlighting key initiatives, the governor noted that N162 billion would be dedicated to road infrastructure.
