Buhari Signs 19 Bills Passed By Senate, Full List

Information reaching Naija News House says that Buhari Signs 19 Bills Passed By Senate

President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to 19 out of the 131 bills passed by the Senate in the last 35 months, The Nation investigation has revealed.

The Senate which was inaugurated on June 11, 2019, will clock three years in office on June 10, 2022.

According to a document sighted by The Nation in Abuja, the Senate introduced 976 bills from inception till March 23, 2022.

Of the 976 bills, about 27 were sponsored by the Executive while others were by Senators..

According to Order 76 (a,b and c) of the Senate Standing Orders 2015 (as amended), there are three classes of bills- Executive, member and private.

Of the 19 bills assented to by Buhari, 13 were sponsored by the Executive while the remaining six are member bills.

Apart from routine Appropriation bills for 2020, 2021 and 2022, prominent among the bills sponsored by the Executive and signed by Buhari are the Finance Bill 2019 (Nigeria Tax and Fiscal Law),

Companies and Allied Matters Act, Cap C20 LFN 2004 (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill 2019, Finance Act (Amendment) Bill 2020, Petroleum Industry Bill 2020, Explosive Act (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill 2021 and Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons Bill 2021.

Other executive Bills passed and assented to by Buhari include the Nigerian Meteorological Agency Act 2003 (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill 2019, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency Act Cap N90 LFN 2004 (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill 2019, Civil Aviation Act 2006 (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill 2019, Federal Airports Authority Act Cap F5 LFN 2004 (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill 2019, and Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (Est. etc) Bill 2019.

They also include the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill, 2022, Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act (amendment) Bill 2022, Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Law, 2022,

Some of the Member Bills passed by the 9th Senate and assented to by the President include the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract Act 2004 (Amendment) Bill, 2019, Nigeria Police Act (Amendment) Bill 2020, Company and Allied Matters Act (amendment) Bill 2020, National Health Insurance Authority Act 2022, Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
