The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies led by the Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Zone 14, has deployed security personnel in Daura and across the state ahead of the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, expressed its deepest condolences to the government and people of Katsina State, as well as the family, friends, and the nation at large over Buhari’s passing.
In an official statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the Command paid tribute to Buhari’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s development and growth.
Meanwhile, the Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 2,807 personnel as part of heightened security arrangements for the burial of the late former president.
State Commandant, Aminu Datti, disclosed the deployment during a strategic meeting with senior management staff at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Katsina on Monday.
Datti revealed that the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Abubakar Audi, expressed deep grief over Buhari’s demise and directed comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the burial ceremonies.
“The deployment includes intensive surveillance, gathering of credible intelligence, community engagement, and synergy with other security agencies,” Commandant Datti said.
According to the NSCDC, strategic security deployments have been carried out in Daura, the hometown of the late President; Umar Musa Yar’adua International Airport, Katsina; the palaces of the Emir of Katsina and the Emir of Daura; as well as other sensitive locations across the state.
Both covert and overt security operatives have been stationed in all 34 Local Government Areas to safeguard government facilities at local, state, and federal levels.
“Personnel deployed must remain professional and work in synergy with other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free burial,” Datti reiterated.
The burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to attract dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond, prompting extensive security measures to ensure public safety and order in Katsina State.
