Look For Bad Guys Wherever They Hide And Take Them Down; CDS Tells Troops

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has charged troops across the nation to intensify their fight against criminal elements, urging them to pursue and neutralise threats wherever they are found.

Musa made this known during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Social and Award Evening for Soldiers, Ratings, and Airmen held in Abuja on Sunday.

He explained the importance of a proactive approach to security, stressing that 2025 must mark a turning point in the military’s operations against insecurity.

“We are not where we want to be, but we’re heading there, and I can assure you that by working together, we shall overcome all acts of evil,” Musa stated.

He called on commanders to lead the charge in creating significant progress in counter-terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges, adding: “Our task is to look for the bad guys and take them down. We must step out of the temple, look for the criminals wherever they enter, and go after them.”

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, reiterated the military’s vital role in maintaining peace and stability, urging troops to remain loyal and resolute in their service to the nation.

“We must go wherever duty calls—by land, sea, or air,” Oluyede stated. “Our commitment to combating terrorism, insurgency, secessionism, and other threats to national unity must remain unwavering.”

He also noted the importance of supporting government initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians, emphasizing that the military’s dedication is key to achieving national goals.

Similarly, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla, reassured Navy personnel of the leadership’s commitment to their welfare and operational readiness.

He announced plans to acquire new assets and enhance surveillance capabilities to boost efficiency and morale.

“We are continually refining our operations, introducing advanced assets, and upgrading surveillance to support our personnel in overcoming challenges,” Ogalla said.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Air Force (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, represented by the Chief of Administration, AVM Idi Sani, commended the troops for their resilience and dedication.

He stressed that the military’s duties extend beyond defending territorial borders to fostering unity and national progress.

“Despite the evolving security landscape, your steadfast commitment ensures our nation’s strength and stability,” Abubakar noted.

He also commended the collaborative efforts among the armed forces, citing significant achievements in counterinsurgency operations, disaster response, and other critical missions.
