Man Kills Childhood Friend During Party
The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 43-year-old man, Amadin Williams, for the alleged murder of his childhood friend, Eghosa Osas, during a housewarming party in Oben Community, Edo State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the arrest on Sunday, stating that the suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
According to police sources, the deceased had recently returned from abroad with his family to celebrate Christmas. The tragic incident occurred during a housewarming party organised in his honour.
A source said, “I can confirm that Eghosa Osas, 43 years old, was killed by his childhood friend, Amadin Williams, for reasons yet to be ascertained.”
Providing further details, Ikoedem explained that the case was reported by the victim’s elder brother. She said Eghosa had stepped out during the event when the suspect allegedly confronted him and attacked him with a machete, inflicting a fatal injury.
“The report of the murder of Eghosa is true, and the suspect, Amadin Williams, believed to be his childhood friend, is in custody. Investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded,” she said.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the Edo State Police Command recently disclosed that it arrested no fewer than 821 suspects for various offences in 2025.
The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, said the arrests spanned major crime categories, including 39 armed robbery suspects, 171 kidnapping suspects, 117 murder suspects, 62 linked to rape and sexual offences, 239 cultism suspects, 36 arrested for unlawful possession of firearms, and 157 others for various offences across the state.
