Jubilation As Nigerian Govt Increases Corps Member’s Allowance

    Corps Member's Allowance

Ahmadu Fintiri, Adamawa State Governor, has approved an increase in the monthly allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state from N20,000 to N30,000.

Fintiri announced the increment on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.

“As a government, we are committed to improving the welfare of corps members. This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you,” the governor stated.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth development, adding that the increased allowance complements existing welfare measures such as regular food provision and other support initiatives.

He also revealed that plans were underway for the construction of a new NYSC orientation camp in the state and directed the NYSC State Coordinator to involve corps members with relevant expertise—including architects, civil engineers, and quantity surveyors—in overseeing the project.

Welcoming the new corps members to Adamawa, Fintiri described them as key partners in the implementation of government policies, especially in the education sector.

“As bonafide citizens of Adamawa during your service year, you are expected to uphold discipline, engage in community development, and cultivate healthy interactions,” Fintiri stated.

He emphasised the importance of the orientation programme in preparing the corps members for their national assignment.

Also speaking at the event, the state Commissioner for Youths and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, Wali Yakubu, encouraged the corps members to take the course seriously, adhere to camp rules, and embrace skill acquisition for life after service.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Osoro Caroline, commended the discipline and active participation of the corps members. She said the orientation programme was designed to prepare them for meaningful contributions to national development.

Osoro lauded the governor’s unwavering support, describing Fintiri as a “visionary leader and a beacon of youth empowerment in Nigeria.”

The ceremony featured the oath of allegiance administered by the Chief Judge of Adamawa, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, and a symbolic presentation of the NYSC journal to the governor.
