COAS Vows Relentless Onslaught Against Criminal Networks As He Hosts Kogi Governor

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigerian Army Medal, has reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army will continue to marshal all necessary resources to confront the prevailing security challenges in Kogi State and across the nation. The COAS gave the assurance on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, when he received the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.

Lieutenant General Shaibu emphasised the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property while sustaining an aggressive operational tempo geared towards neutralising threats and restoring stability nationwide. He reiterated the Army’s readiness to deepen strategic collaboration with state governments to strengthen security architecture and entrench lasting peace.

In his remarks, Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo congratulated the COAS on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his proven competence and leadership. He expressed appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for finding Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu worthy of being entrusted with the leadership of the Nigerian Army at this critical phase of the nation’s security trajectory.

The Governor further commended the Nigerian Army for its consistent contributions to national security, acknowledging the complex threats confronting the country and stressing the need for collective action. He pledged the unwavering support of the Kogi State Government for ongoing and future military operations in the state.
