Tension: Massive Death Hits Apostolic Church As Many Pastors Confirmed Dead
The Apostolic Church in Akwa Ibom State has been thrown into turmoil as 14 clergymen have reportedly died, allegedly linked to internal persecution within the Oron Area of the church.
In a recent disclosure, Apostle Isaac Uye, the Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Oro Field, and a National Evangelist, claimed that 14 pastors have passed away after they supported Apostle Effiong Okon Uye, the church’s leader in Akwa Ibom, in a campaign against him.
Speaking to journalists in Oron town over the weekend, Apostle Dr. Uye alleged that divine retribution had struck those who publicly disgraced him. “The Lord sent a message of death to those who humiliated me,” he remarked, recalling the spiritual battle he faced.
According to Apostle Dr. Uye, the conspirators sought the help of a local herbalist who sent a mystical bird to kill him. However, he claimed divine intervention protected him. “God delivered the bird into our hands, and we destroyed it by fire,” he recounted.
Apostle Uye also revealed that Apostle Effiong Okon Uye, who had been instrumental in the persecution, has since made overtures for reconciliation. Yet, Uye remains steadfast, drawing a comparison to the biblical Apostle Paul, insisting that any reconciliation must be public, just as his persecution was.
“I havenโt forgiven those who tormented me,” Apostle Dr. Uye asserted. “They haven’t shown remorse or offered any apologies.”
Apostle Uye shared that out of three lawsuits brought against him by his opponents, he triumphed in two, and the third was withdrawn. He claimed these legal battles were designed to tarnish his reputation, but he remains grateful to God for delivering him through each challenge.
“The accusations against me were mind-boggling,” he stated, referring to his multiple arrests and court appearances. “But I emerged victorious in all legal disputes, including those involving the Inspector General of Police.”
He also addressed false claims of adultery, saying that key witnesses later admitted in the office of the Inspector General that the allegations were baseless and fabricated.
Apostle Uye expressed deep disappointment with the current leadership of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, accusing them of being “diabolical, secretive, and unjust.” He emphasized that none of the serious allegations made against himโadultery, rape, or attempted rapeโwere substantiated in any investigations.
The deaths of the 14 pastors have shocked the religious community, prompting concerns about ongoing tensions and unresolved conflicts within the church. The wave of fatalities has raised critical questions about internal strife and the deeper issues plaguing the Apostolic Church in Akwa Ibom State.
