The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Olusegun Oni has withdrawn from the Ekiti gubernatorial election scheduled to hold on Saturday.

Oni blamed the leadership of the party SDP, for lacking a National Working Committee (NWC) and also irregularities within the party system.

In a memo on Friday, Oni further accused SDP of running an illegal party activities, saying that the NWC tenure expires since 2020, with no convention held to elect new officials.

He said “the implication is that, we are a product of illegality and all other nominations done by SDP leadership stand null and void.

“ We have received received legal advice from a reputable legal luminaries, including 11 Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) that we are just wasting our time”, Oni said.
