Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sustains Relentless Pressure On Terrorists In North West
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) under the Joint Task Force North West have continued to demonstrate high operational responsiveness through coordinated offensives across the Joint Operations Area, recording significant successes between 21 and 22 January 2026.
In one of the operations, troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, supported by Department of State Services (DSS) assets, engaged terrorists during a fighting patrol at Gundumi Village in Isa Local Government Area. During the encounter, one terrorist was neutralised, while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles from the scene.
In a related operation, troops of 1 Brigade, in collaboration with the Headquarters JTF OPFY Mobile Strike Team, acted swiftly on credible intelligence indicating that injured terrorists were receiving treatment within Bingi Forest. The troops located and destroyed a makeshift medical facility used by the terrorists, dealing a major blow to their support and logistics network.
The sustained successes recorded during these operations underscore the unwavering determination, coordination, and operational effectiveness of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in degrading terrorist networks and restoring peace and security across the North West region.
