Foreign Affairs Ministry Hosts Farewell Reception In Honour Of Husseini

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, 29 January 2026, hosted a farewell reception in honour of His Excellency, Ambassador Bello Kazaure Husseini, marking the end of his distinguished career in the Nigerian Foreign Service.
The event, held at the Ministry’s Atrium, was attended by senior government officials, serving and retired diplomats, representatives of international organisations, members of the diplomatic corps, colleagues, friends, and family members.
Born on 11 December 1967 in Jigawa State, Ambassador Husseini joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he served Nigeria in various strategic capacities both at headquarters and in several foreign missions. His postings included India, Kuwait, Tunisia, Japan, Cameroon, Australia, and Saudi Arabia. Throughout his service, he handled diverse responsibilities covering diplomacy, administration, trade facilitation, protocol, as well as bilateral and multilateral engagements.
The farewell reception featured tributes, the presentation of a formal citation, and goodwill messages celebrating Ambassador Husseini’s legacy and positive impact on the Ministry and his colleagues.
Speakers at the event commended his long years of dedicated service to Nigeria, describing his career as one marked by professionalism, integrity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals of diplomacy and public service. They highlighted his leadership style, which prioritised mentorship, inclusiveness, and respect for diversity, as well as his consistent emphasis on humanity and national interest in the discharge of diplomatic duties.
There was broad consensus that Ambassador Husseini’s contributions to institutional development and capacity building within the Nigerian Foreign Service were significant achievements worthy of emulation by younger officers.
In his response, Ambassador Bello Kazaure Husseini expressed deep gratitude to the Federal Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and his colleagues for the opportunity to serve the nation. He described public service as both a privilege and a responsibility, and urged younger officers to uphold the values of discipline, professionalism, and patriotism in the course of their duties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended Ambassador Husseini for his exemplary service to Nigeria and wished him continued success and fulfilment in his future endeavours.
