FCC Reaffirms Commitment To Equity, Fairness, National Unity — Idisi

    Hon. Edirin Idisi

A commissioner of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Edirin Idisi, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to equity, fairness, transparency, and national unity, following the recent swearing-in of its members by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Idisi, who represents Delta State on the Commission, made the statement on Saturday at a book launch event in Abuja. He explained that although the gathering was not an official FCC engagement, it provided an opportunity to restate the Commission’s constitutional mandate and its responsibility to the nation.

“The Federal Character Commission represents the conscience of the nation,” Idisi said. “We have been clearly charged by Mr. President to ensure that national assets, employment opportunities, resources, and infrastructure are equitably distributed across the six geopolitical zones of the country, at the federal, state, and local government levels.”

He stressed that the Commission’s operations would be guided by the principles of equity, fairness, and transparency, anchored on the doctrine of uberrima fides—utmost good faith.
According to him, adherence to these values is critical to fostering inclusion, strengthening public trust in government institutions, and ensuring that all Nigerians feel adequately represented in governance.

Naija News House reports that President Tinubu inaugurated the 37 members of the Federal Character Commission, along with its chairman, Hajia Hulayat Omidiran, a former lawmaker, on January 22, 2026.

Hon. Idisi attended the event in his capacity as a representative of the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori.
