Fed. College Of Edu. Ika Bill, Sponsored By Hon. Jimbo Passes First Reading
A Bill for an act to establish Federal College of Education, Ika Local Government Area, has passed through first reading on the floor of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Abuja.
The Bill which has Rep. Clement Jimbo, MHR, MNIQS, Member representing Abak/Etim Ekpo /Ika Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman, House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development as the lead sponsor, was read the first time at Plenary today in the floor of the Green Chamber by the Clerk of House of Representatives.
The Bill seeks to establish in Ika Local Government Area, a Federal College of Education, to ease the burden of Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituents of travelling far in pursuit of professional knowledge and certification in Education.
Also at Plenary today, Rep. Jimbo, has called for comprehensive investigation into the alleged attempted assassination of Dr. Saheed Abdullahi Mosadoluwa, his family and workers by Nigerian Navy personnel.
The assassination attempt occured on the 2nd of March, 2025 at Harmony Garden and Estate Development Limited, Epe, Lagos State.
Rep. Jimbo, while presenting the Motion on Matter of Urgent Public Importance, prayed the House to rise in defence of civilians and to avert such act in the future by bringing the perpetrators of the heinous act to face the law as it will serve as deterrent to other Military or Paramilitary Personnel.
The Federal College of Education Bill was referred to the House Committee on Education while the Motion was referred to House Committee on Navy for further legislative action by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, GCON.
