EFCC Charges Two for Alleged Forged NNPC Appointment Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Gidado Ibrahim and one Halimat Adenike Tejusho, who is currently at large, over an alleged ₦603.4 million job scam involving the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The suspects were arraigned on Monday, February 9, 2026, before Justice H. Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on an amended six-count charge bordering on fraud, obtaining by false pretence, and forgery.
At the proceedings, prosecution counsel, Y. Tarfa, drew the court’s attention to the amended charge and urged the court to allow the defendant to take his plea.
According to the EFCC, the defendants allegedly obtained the sum of ₦603,400,000 from Oluseye Yomi-Sholoye between August and October 2024, under the false pretence that they would facilitate her appointment as Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)—a claim the prosecution said the defendants knew to be false.
One of the counts further alleged that Gidado Ibrahim, in August 2024 in Abuja, knowingly used a forged document titled “Presidential Villa State House, Office of the National Security Adviser”, an offence said to be contrary to Sections 366 and 364 of the Penal Code Law.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all six counts when the charges were read to him.
Following his plea, the prosecution requested a trial date and asked the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility.
In response, defence counsel, B. B. Alhaji, informed the court of a pending bail application. Although the application was not ripe for hearing, counsel urged the court to remand the defendant in EFCC custody on health grounds pending the determination of the bail application.
After listening to submissions from both parties, Justice Muazu adjourned the matter to February 17, 2026, for hearing of the bail application and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Facility.
