BREAKING: Heavy Gunshots In Abuja As Police Clash With Robbers

There was tension in midnight gun battle rocked the Royal Court Estate in Jahi II, Abuja, as operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command foiled a violent armed robbery in the early hours of March 27, 2025.

The operation unfolded at precisely 3:20 a.m., when a distress call rang out from terrified residents reporting an ongoing armed robbery in the upscale estate. Within minutes, officers from the Mabushi Division stormed the scene—only to be greeted by gunfire from the suspected criminals.

According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, “The operatives were engaged in a gun duel by the hoodlums. However, the suspects were overpowered by the superior firepower of the Police and attempted to flee with gunshot injuries.”

But the Police were relentless. A fierce chase ensued through the darkened streets of Jahi, ending in the dramatic arrest of two key suspects—Rabiu Jubril and Ibrahim Isa—both residents of Tipper Garage in Jahi. The suspects, wounded and cornered, were taken into custody, their weapons and loot seized.

Among the items recovered were two locally fabricated firearms and three suspected stolen vehicles: a black Toyota Matrix (registration number NBS 348 CP), a black Toyota Venza (ABJ 105 AV), and a grey Lexus IS350 (RSH 295 CB).

In what appears to be the spoils of a high-profile robbery ring, Police also recovered several high-end electronic devices.

These included two MacBook Pro laptops, one Lenovo laptop, an iPad, a PlayStation 4 gaming console, a Canon IP1224 camera, and even a drone camera.

Describing the arrest as a significant blow to criminal activity in the FCT, Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, issued a firm warning: “Let this serve as a clear message to criminal elements—Abuja is not a safe haven for your activities. We will track you, confront you, and bring you to justice.”

Adewale also urged residents to take preventive steps to secure their property. “We strongly advise the public to install tracking devices in their vehicles. It significantly improves the chances of recovery should an incident occur.”

He reaffirmed the FCT Police Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the capital. “We will not relent. We are here to protect the people, day and night,” he said.

The suspects are currently undergoing investigation and will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of the process.

The Police have also called on residents to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activities using the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08033111911, or 07057321547.

“The fight against crime requires everyone’s cooperation,” SP Adeh added. “Together, we can keep our communities safe.”
