Identities Of United Capital Employees Who Died In Afriland Towers Fire Revealed

Not less than six employees of United Capital tragically lost their lives in the fire that devastated Afriland Towers, a six-storey building housing several major institutions in Lagos, on September 16, 2025.

The fire reportedly originated in the inverter room located in the building’s basement and also claimed four lives from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), highlighting the catastrophic impact of the blaze.

On Monday, United Capital, a pan-African financial services institution, officially confirmed the deaths of its staff and announced plans to hold a memorial service to honour the victims with dignity and solemnity.

“Our departed colleagues were an integral part of our company and family. Their painful loss leaves an immeasurable void,” the company said in a previous statement.

“We extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, and loved ones, and we continue to hold them in our thoughts and prayers, as well as providing all the support we can to them during this most difficult time.”

Below are the names of the deceased United Capital staff.

Jesutoni Shodipo, 21, was a graduate intern in United Capital’s compliance department.

Kehinde Adeoye worked in United Capital’s compliance department and died at the age of 36.

Ndidi Osaemedike-Okeke worked with United Capital’s trustees and died at the age of 41.

Olumide Oyefodunrin was a 27-year-old trust officer at United Capital.

Opeyemi Oloyede worked as a compliance intern at United Capital and died at the age of 26.

Rebecca Adenuga was a 26-year-old executive associate with United Capital’s wealth management department.
