The House of Representatives, in partnership with the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), is set to convene an Inaugural National Policy Dialogue on the Legislative Agenda of the 10th House of Representatives, scheduled as follows:
Date:
Monday, May 12, 2025
Time:
10:00 a.m. prompt (All guests are expected to be seated by 9:30 am)
Venue:
Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja
At the event, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD., GCON, will present the *Mid-Term Report Card* of the 10th House and lead conversations with critical stakeholders on key national policy and legislative priorities.
At the commencement of the 10th Assembly, one of the foundational undertakings of the leadership of the House was the constitution of an Ad-Hoc Committee tasked with developing a comprehensive Legislative Agenda. This strategic decision was made to ensure coherence, policy alignment, and an outcome-driven legislative approach that reflects the aspirations of the Nigerian people.
The resulting Legislative Agenda, adopted in November 2023, has since served as compass for the House’s legislative interventions; guiding its lawmaking, oversight, and representative responsibilities in a structured and impact-focused manner. The eight strategic priority areas outlined in the Agenda are as follows:
1. Strengthening Good Governance
2. Improving National Security
3. Law Reform
4. Economic Growth and Development
5. Social Sector Reform and Development
6. Inclusion and Open Parliament
7. Influencing Nigeria’s Foreign Policy
8. Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability
This National Policy Dialogue with the support of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, represents a significant moment of reflection and forward planning, aimed at deepening collaboration with stakeholders in government, civil society, the private sector, and the international development community.
