BREAKING: Hundreds Of Boko Haram, ISWAP Fighters Killed; 300 Communication Devices Seized

The Joint Task Force North East Operation, Hadin Kai (OPHK), has said its troops killed 438 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in the last seven months amid intensified counter-terrorism operations in Borno State.

Maj Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of OPHK, disclosed this on Saturday in Maiduguri, Borno State.

According to him, the figures cover operations conducted between May and December 2025.

Abubakar also claimed troops recovered 254 assorted weapons, 300 Starlink communication devices, and rescued 366 civilians from territories previously occupied by the insurgents.

“The surrender of 881 JAS/ISWAP fighters and their families, among other accomplishments, further underscores the progress made,” Abubakar said, insisting the military remains committed to sustaining ongoing offensives.

The commander attributed the “successes” to directives and support from the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Waidi Shaibu, whom he praised for interventions that he said boosted field operations.

Despite repeated announcements of killings, surrenders, and weapons recoveries by the military, large swathes of the North-East remain volatile, with residents regularly reporting attacks and ambushes on highways and rural communities.

Independent verification of military claims also remains difficult, as journalists and rights groups face restricted access to frontline areas.

Abubakar, however, assured that troops would “maintain the tempo” and continue operations until terrorism in the region is dismantled.
