Nigerian Police Demanded N40,000 To Help Rescue Kidnapped

Police officers in Nigeria have demanded N40,000 from a distraught mother whose seven-year-old daughter was kidnapped in Ogun.

The police authorities said the errant cops had been arrested and would face disciplinary actions.

“Otta missing girl: The Ogun State Police Command has been on the case. The girl will be found asap. Also, the policemen who demanded money before they could attend to the case have been arrested and kept in detention for disciplinary action,” said police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Saturday.

The police described the officers’ actions as “inhuman, apathetic, and unprofessional.”

The arrest of the officers followed the reported case of the kidnapped girl, Mercy Akande. She was abducted this week in Ogun.
