Kinsmen honour A’Ibom health commissioner, Commends Gov. Udom for project in Ikono
Indigenes of Ikono Local Government Area, Akwa ibom State have poured Encomium on Akwa ibom State Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for appointing their son Prof. Augustine Umoh as his Commissioner for health. Prof. Umoh and his dear wife who were received in their country home Ibianang were full of praises for the Governor.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ikono Hon. Nyakno Okoibu noted that Prof. Umoh deserves the honour given to him by his people and charged the commissioner to attract more dividends of democracy from the center to his people who are very expectant and overjoyed after staying for years without having a commissioner to take their problems to the Governor at the State EXCO.
Declaring the event open, the Chairman of the occasion Tpl Raymond Nde took time to thank the commissioner for recently securing employment opportunities for Ikono indigenes since he assumed office and assured Ibianang people that prof. Umoh will not disappoint them as he will work to see that their schools, hospitals get facelift.
Presenting the welcome address the planning committee chairman Elder Bassey Isang noted “we are grateful to our amiable Governor our Great Leader Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel the Governor of Akwa Ibom state for finding our son worthy to occupy the office of Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Health. May God Almighty bless him and give him and his cabinet the wisdom and strength to lead our dear state to the land of fulfilment. We say a big thanks to you our Governor. We are overwhelmed by the goodwill and love which your presence has generated. There is no doubt that your presence here has given our community here a sense of belonging. Permit me to use this medium and draw your attention to areas we wish you to use your good office and liase with the appropriate authority to come to our aid: the completion of the abandoned Uyo Afaha -Urua Naira- Nkwot -Nung Ukim road project, Old calabar Itu road construction project linking Ibianang and Edem Iyere. May I also mention here that your effort in upgrading one or two primary health centers to secondary or tertiary health centers will be a thing of joy to ikono people”
Responding the Honourable commissioner noted that His Excellency Gov. Udom Emmanuel is the reason behind the celebration as he remembered Ikono while picking his cabinet. He assured all that the Governor is always thinking about them and will see that massive development is done in the local government area. The commissioner went further to note that educational facilities and other basic amenities will get the Governor’s attention for a facelift.
The event which coincided with Ibianang day celebration was attended by the council chairman Hon. Nyakno Okoibu, Federal House of Representatives member Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong Udo, Sen. Aloysius Etok, Senior Special Assistant to Governor on petroleum Sir Victor Etefia, immediate past chairman Itoro Columba, Permanent Secretary Patrick Essiet, Director of public health Godfrey Akro who led other directors to the event, Chairman Nigerian Medical Association Dr. Ime Sylvester, Secreatry Mrs Enobong, PDP ward chairman Christopher Effiong Udo, Coordinator of Village heads Chief Akpaquat who led other village heads to the reception, Forum of Councillors headed by the leader prince ntuk, clergy, former supervisor Hon. Ndifreke Ita, Village head of Ibianang Chief Eteidung B S Umoh, Rear admiral T. C. Udofia and wife, Elder Samuel ekpo JP village chairman of Ibianang, Chairman of the occasion TPL Raymond Nde.
High point of the event which follow all Covid 19 guidelines/ protocol was the donation for the construction of the village council hall in ibianang.
