BREAKING: Kwara On Fire, Residents, Travellers Flee Into Bushes As Terrorists Storm Community

There was Tension on Tuesday evening in Eruku, a community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, after heavily armed terrorists launched a coordinated attack, forcing travellers and residents to flee into surrounding bushes for safety.

Sources said that the attackers stormed the township through one of the major entry routes, firing sporadically as they advanced.

The assault triggered panic, leaving vehicles abandoned on the road as people scrambled for cover.

Eyewitnesses reported sustained gunfire ringing across parts of the community as the terrorists moved deeper into the town.

A traveller who escaped the scene recorded a frantic video while hiding in the bush. In the shaky video, he repeatedly pleaded for security intervention as gunshots echoed in the background.

“This is 18-11-2025. On my way coming back from the Federal Poly, Bida, Niger State, we were coming through Ilorin road when they started shooting. Everybody has scattered into the bush,” the panicked traveller said.

“Please, come to our rescue. We are in trouble. They are shooting everywhere. People have abandoned their vehicles. The community is in chaos. Please help us.”

Residents said the attackers overwhelmed the area, causing widespread fear and confusion.

As of the time of filing this report, details of casualties or arrests remain unclear, and authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Eruku and adjoining communities have experienced repeated bandit and terrorist incursions in recent years, heightening concerns over worsening insecurity along the Kwara–Kogi–Ekiti axis.

This latest attack has once again raised alarm about the increasing boldness of armed groups operating across Nigeria’s North-Central region.

Naija News House earlier reported that gunmen suspected to be terrorists had abducted a timber supplier and one of his workers in Okoloke, a community in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, plunging residents into renewed fear as kidnapping cases continue to rise in the area.

It was learnt that the victims were seized while carrying out their work on a farm in the area.

The attackers reportedly stormed the site unexpectedly, shooting sporadically and forcing the workers to flee in different directions.

One of the labourers, who narrowly fled the scene, confirmed the incident and told community members that the kidnappers overpowered the timber supplier and one of his staff before whisking them away into the forest.

Communities in Yagba East and Yagba West LGAs — particularly those sharing borders with Kwara State — have been experiencing a disturbing rise in armed attacks, kidnappings and other violent crimes in recent months.
