Lakurawa Terrorists Kills NIS Officers, Others

Two Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) officers and one civilian were killed by the newly formed terrorists group, Lakurawa on Saturday, at Kangiwa border, in the Kangiwa local government area of Kebbi State.

Community sources and security operatives confirmed this to Vanguard on Saturday.

They noted that the immigration officers were around a place where a transmitting mast would be installed when the armed group struck, killing two of the officers and one civilian.

The transmitting mast is expected to detect movements around the border and send information directly to the NIS database.

The Kebbi police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar and his counterpart from the immigration did not respond to calls for enquiries and text message.

As of the time of filing this report, there were no official statements from the immigration and the police regarding the latest attack.

In December, the Nigeria Police Force confirmed that the newly formed terrorist group, Lakurawa, was behind the explosions that rocked two villages in Dansadau district, Maru Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara.

This had been confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, during an interview with newsmen.

The police chief had said one person died, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries during the explosion at Yar Tasha village along Dansadau road.

The incident, it was gathered, occurred after a commercial driver conveying passengers to Dansadau town ran into an explosive device suspected to be planted by the terrorists.

Dalijan was quoted as saying, “Yes, there was an explosion along Dansadau road this morning and it was a bomb planted under a bridge. The motorist stepped on it and it exploded killing one person and injuring three others.”
