    BREAKING: Major Shake-Up Rocks Nigerian Police Force As IGP Orders Massive Reassignment Of Senior Officers

    Major Shake-Up Rocks Nigerian Police Force as IGP Orders Massive Reassignment of Senior Officers

    Kayode Egbetokun, The Inspector General of Police (IGP), has ordered the immediate posting and redeployment of dozens of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and two Superintendents of Police (SUPOLs).

    The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), on Tuesday, issued a nationwide posting of senior officers, effective January 1, 2026, across multiple commands, divisions, and specialized units.

    The directive, released through a police wireless message from the Force Security Department in Abuja, covers officers across all states and key operational formations.

    According to the message, several Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Superintendents of Police (SUPOLs) have been reassigned to new commands, including Mobile Police (MOPOL) units, Interpol, Anti-Human Trafficking, Maritime, Disaster Management, Intelligence, and Finance and Accounts divisions.

    Other postings affect officers in operations, research and development, the X-Squad, Airport and Railway units, Education, Training, and specialized tactical formations such as Bomb Disposal, K-9, and Mounted Police.

    The wireless message, dispatched from the Force Secretariat (FORSEC) in Abuja on Tuesday morning, affects key operational units including the Mobile Police Force (MOPOL), Area Commands, and specialized units like Interpol and the Anti-Human Trafficking division.

    The reshuffle places new Commanders (C.O.s) at the helm of several strategic Mobile Police Squadrons.

    Some notable postings include: ACP Kabiru Adeshina Akinroye – C.O. MOPOL 17 Akure; ACP Emmanuel Olusola Oyewole – C.O. MOPOL 33 Ado Ekiti; ACP Ogungbe Mi Igbekele -C.O. MOPOL 12 Minna; ACP Stephen Olusola Olatise – C.O. MOPOL 4 Ibadan; ACP Nnaji Agha Chima – C.O. MOPOL 26 Uyo; ACP Atanda Olubunmi Otitoola – C.O. MOPOL 59 Bajoga; ACP Alkali Lamido – C.O. MOPOL 58 Lafia; ACP Awoyale Olufemi Olayinka – C.O. MOPOL 16 Abeokuta and ACP Obideyi Olusoji Abraham – C.O. MOPOL 13 Makurdi.

    Several officers were moved into specialized administrative and investigative roles.
