How ‘I Supplied Food, Fuel, Water’ To Terrorists; Man Confesses
A 50-year-old man identified as Birish has been arrested by the Katsina Community Watch Corps for allegedly serving as an informant and supplier to armed bandits terrorising various communities across the state.
Birish, who hails from Gozo in Zango Local Government Area of Katsina State, was reportedly caught after intelligence reports linked him to the provision of logistics, including food and fuel, to criminal groups operating in the area.
In a video of Birish’s interrogation, posted on X by security expert Zagazola Makama, the suspect admitted to assisting the bandits, though he claimed he did not deliver the items to them personally.
“My name is Birish, and I am from Gozo, Zango Local Government Area. I’m 50 years old, and I’m Hausa by tribe,” he began.
“I have bought fuel and taken it to them. They always send a woman to come and take it and deliver it to them, and I don’t know her name.”
Birish further revealed the type of supplies he had procured for the bandits.
“We buy them beverages, ‘pure’ water (sachet water), bread, rice, and fuel,” he said.
When asked whether he had any direct interaction with the terrorists, he said, “If we buy all the items for them, they send people to come and collect them in the town near Alhaji Bello’s house.”
Despite admitting to the illegal act, Birish tried to distance himself from any knowledge of the group’s recent attack on the community.
“Those who came to attack the man were up to five, but I don’t know how much they collected from him. He stole some items and was apprehended, and a judgment was passed on him. I was not given any money,” he said.
