    Angry Man Kills His Wife

A 30-year-old man, identified as Suleman Mamuda has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife, 25-year-old Umaima Maidawa, in Bayawa Village, Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The State Police Command, Public Relations Officer, Bashir Usman in a statement on Thursday said the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at about 6:30am.

According to the statement, Mamuda allegedly struck his wife with the wooden handle of a hoe during a domestic altercation, inflicting fatal injuries. After the incident, the suspect was said to have fled the community in an attempt to evade arrest.

However, following intelligence gathering and information provided by residents, police operatives tracked him down and took him into custody. He said the state police commissioner, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.

The police command urged members of the public to promptly report incidents and suspicious activities, stressing that community cooperation remains critical to maintaining peace and security across the state.

The Command said further updates would be provided as investigations continue.
