Many Feared Killed As Tiv, Fulani Clash
A violent clash between Tiv and Fulani communities in Taraba State resulted in the deaths of at least five people on Saturday.
The conflict occurred in Maraban Azagwa, located in the Maihula area of Bali Local Government Area.
Sources indicate that the clash was triggered by the death of a Fulani man at a local beer joint owned by a Tiv man. Relatives of the deceased Fulani man accused the Tiv community of being responsible for his death, leading to the confrontation.
According to reports from Daily Trust, five individuals lost their lives, and several others were injured on both sides. The situation in the area has since calmed following the deployment of police forces, although the area remains largely deserted.
DSP Kwache Gambo, the acting Police Public Relations Officer for the Taraba State Police Command, confirmed the incident.
She noted that two people were killed and several others injured. Those injured are currently receiving treatment. DSP Gambo also mentioned that police operatives have been deployed to the area, and the situation is now relatively calm.
