It was a joyful jubilation on Wednesday when Senator Aniekan Bassey, representing Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, flagged off a life-saving free medical and surgical outreach at the Model Primary Health Centre, Ikot Ekwere, in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
The outreach, which targets thousands of residents across Etinan, Nsit Ibom, and Nsit Ubium Local Government Areas, is intended to make quality healthcare accessible to all.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the Clan Head, Etebom Ukpong Udoewa, community leaders, and political stakeholders showered glowing commendations on Senator Bassey for his consistent investment in the health and wellbeing of his constituents.
In their separate remarks, the Coordinator of Team Aniekan Bassey, Hon. James Ibiok; the Nsit Ubium APC Chapter Chairman, Hon. Johnson Udoka; and the Village Youth President, Mr. Etim Inyang, described the outreach as “timely, selfless, and life-transforming.”
Also speaking, the Village Heads of Ikot Ekwere, who spoke on behalf of the other village heads, applauded the Senator for touching lives where it matters most, the healthcare.
It was disclosed that the outreach will run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will feature general surgeries, eye tests, corrective eye surgeries, and the distribution of free eyeglasses.
“This outreach is designed to remove the financial barriers to healthcare and bring hope to families. We are not just treating illnesses; we are restoring sight, saving lives, and giving people a renewed chance to live productively.”
With the flag-off, the communities of Etinan Federal Constituency are set to witness days of medical miracles, as Senator Aniekan Bassey continues to prove that effective representation is about service, not rhetoric. In
