BREAKING: APC Gets New National Chairman After Ganduje Resigned
Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emerged as the party’s new Acting National Chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje.
It was reported on Friday that Ganduje resigned from his position with immediate effect, with the former Governor of Kano State, attributing his resignation to health concerns, saying he needed to focus on his well-being, according to his resignation letter.
Ganduje was elected as APC National Chairman in August 2023, during a period of internal crisis within the ruling party.
His resignation takes immediate effect, according to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
In his resignation letter addressed to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, Ganduje thanked President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to lead the party.
President Tinubu reportedly directed Dalori to assume the role of Acting Chairman, pending the convening of an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to formally fill the position.
Ganduje took over the APC leadership in August 2023 following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu.
His appointment stirred controversy, especially from party members who viewed it as a breach of the APC’s zoning principle, which originally allotted the position to the North Central region.
Before his resignation, Ganduje had been appointed by President Tinubu as the Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in January 2025, and is also said to be under consideration for a non-career ambassadorial role.
Dalori’s appointment is expected to stabilise the party’s leadership ahead of the next NEC meeting and possibly ease internal tensions that grew during Ganduje’s tenure.
