Technology Is Catalyst For National Success; Tunji-Ojo

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has emphasized that the strategic application of technology is essential for driving success in any organisation.

He made this remark while receiving the management team of Renaissance Africa Energy Company led by Managing Director, Chief Tony Attah, on Tuesday in Abuja.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo described technology as the engine of modern business ambition and commended the company for deploying cutting-edge solutions—particularly automation—in its operations.

Speaking on the Ministry’s ongoing digital transformation, Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted the key achievements; the implementation of the Local Content Act, which has spurred knowledge transfer and local participation in exploration and production; the overhaul of the passport system, moving from 96 decentralized personalization centers to a single, secure, centralized and highly efficient passport processing centre that aligns with global best practices.

He reiterated that, present administration has implemented an Advanced Passenger Information (API) system, a critical tool that enables real-time passenger data analysis for more effective border control and national security management.

Honourable Minister frames these changes as part of a ‘business unusual’ approach under the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, aimed at disrupting ineffective old systems and building a better future for Nigeria.

“We may not be responsible for the Nigeria of the past,” he stated, “but we will be judged by the Nigeria we hand over to the next generation.”

Earlier, the Managing Director of Renaissance Africa Energy Company, Chief Tony Attah, stated that the company aims to lead the drive for energy security in Nigeria and, ultimately, across Africa. He also noted that the company currently manages all of Shell Petroleum’s onshore assets.

He reaffirmed the present administration’s commitment to bold reforms that are driving economic revival, strengthening national security, and restoring international confidence in Nigeria. Ensures the Ministry of Interior continues providing full support to strategic partners and investment.
