BREAKING: Tinubu Announces Massive New Appointments, Full List

    New Appointments

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Muhammad Babangida, son of former military President Ibrahim Babangida, as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture.

The appointment, part of a broader shake-up of leadership across several federal agencies, was announced in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday, July 18, 2025.

According to the statement, Babangida, 53, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland.

He also completed an Executive Programme on Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.

Others appointed by the President include Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State, who will serve as Chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA), and Jamilu Wada Aliyu from Kano State, appointed as Chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).

Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa, also from Kano State, has been named Chairman of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), while Sanusi Musa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Kano State, will serve as Chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR).

Professor Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu from Sokoto State has been appointed Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA). Sanusi Garba Rikiji from Zamfara State will head the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN) as Director-General.

Tomi Somefun from Oyo State has been appointed Managing Director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), while Dr Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria from Kaduna State is to serve as Executive Director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC).

The presidency noted that these appointments reflect a commitment to revitalising key institutions and driving progress across critical sectors of the economy.
