NUJ FCT Council Condoles Gombe Over Death of Journalists in Tragic Road Crash
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of journalists from Gombe State who lost their lives in a tragic road accident.
In a condolence message addressed to the President of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, and members of the NUJ Gombe State Council, the FCT Council described the incident as a devastating loss to the journalism profession and the Nigerian media community.
Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, said the council received the news with profound shock and sadness, noting that the deceased were dedicated professionals who died in the line of duty.
According to the statement, the fallen journalists were shining examples of truth, courage, and commitment, whose passion for journalism and service to society remained evident until their final moments.
“Their untimely departure has left an irreplaceable void in our ranks. However, their legacy of fearless reporting, professionalism, and unwavering service to humanity will endure forever,” the statement read.
The NUJ FCT Council extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues, and the entire NUJ Gombe State Council, assuring them of its solidarity during this difficult period.
Comrade Ike also prayed for divine strength and comfort for the affected families and asked God to grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed journalists.
Describing the incident as a painful reminder of the dangers journalists face in the course of their duties, the council called for renewed attention to road safety measures to prevent further loss of lives.
The tragic accident has thrown the Gombe media community into mourning, with tributes continuing to pour in from journalists, media organisations, and professional bodies across the country.
