Outstanding Leadership: Nigeria Youth Organization Honors Governor Alex Otti

The Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO), has praised the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti for his leadership qualities and determination to turn around the economy of the Southeast state.
The NYO led by its National President, Comrade Okorie C. Okorie led the national leadership of the organisation on a courtesy visit to Abia State governor at the Government House Umuahia last week. During the visit, the NYO leadership expressed their gratitude and commended Governor Otti for his transformative leadership that has transformed the state in less than two years.
Receiving the NYO executives, the Deputy Governor, Ikechukwukelue Emetu, who stood in for his boss, thanked the NYO delegation for the visit and assured them that Abia State government under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti was intentional in creating an environment that support the creative energies of teeming Nigerian youth from across the country.
The NYO presented a Distinguished National Merit Award of Excellence to Dr. Otti, recognizing him as the “Most Dedicated Nigerian Governor” for his administration’s significant strides in Abia State’s development within just two years. The organization also decorated him as the National Executive Patron of the Nigeria Youth Organization, acknowledging his role as a youth role model.

In his address, Comrade Okorie praised the governor’s leadership and emphasized NYO’s mission to support national progress. He highlighted the purpose of the visit, which included advocating for the establishment of an Abia State Youth Development Commission and an Abia Centre for Youth Development to address youth challenges in the state.

“The Nigeria Youth Organization is committed to building a united and progressive Nigeria,” said Comrade Okorie. “We aim to collaborate with leaders like Dr. Alex Otti, who share our vision for excellence, patriotism, and the welfare of Nigerian youths.”

The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Nwaobilor Ananaba, accompanied the NYO team, along with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth, Hon. Onyebuchi. Mr. Ananaba introduced the organization and lauded their efforts in supporting the state’s leadership.

Deputy Governor Emetu, expressed gratitude for the NYO’s visit and recognition. Reflecting on the progress in Abia State, he noted, “Years ago, Abia State faced widespread criticism. Today, we are committed to managing resources effectively and transforming perceptions.”

He urged youths to channel their energy toward building the nation, emphasizing their pivotal role in shaping governance and societal development. “Seventy percent of our communities are made up of youths. It is in our hands to build a progressive nation or allow negativity to prevail,” he said.

The Deputy Governor concluded by thanking the NYO on behalf of Governor Otti and expressed hope for continued collaboration.

The visit underscores the importance of youth engagement in governance and the recognition of leaders who prioritize sustainable development and the empowerment of young people
