PDP, 2 Others Raise Alarm Over Delay In 19 RECs Appointment
The leadership of three political parties, the Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party and the New Nigeria Peoples Party on Tuesday raised the alarm over the delay in the appointment of State Electoral Commissioners in 19 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, ahead of the 2023 general election.
The concerns were raised when representatives of the two parties appeared at YIAGA-UNDP Citizen Election Dialogue which aired on Channels Television.
Spokesperson of the PDP presidential campaign, Dino Melaye, said, “The level of preparedness of INEC will either make or mar the elections, so Nigerians knowing that 19 out of 36 resident electoral commissioners are not in place calls for a lot of worries.
In the Peoples Democratic Party, we are disenchanted because most of the nominees from the President to the National Assembly are known card-carrying members of the All Progressives Congress.
Raise Alarm

We have made our petition in that regard but that is not a good reason to delay the appointment of the commissioners.
