Police Officer Sacked Over Chilling Threat To Woman
A Metropolitan Police officer, PC Giovanni Mascia, has been booted out of the force in disgrace after a misconduct hearing found him guilty of viciously assaulting and threatening to kill a woman he knew while off duty.
The explosive case, which unfolded during a hearing by the East Area Command Unit, revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse between August and November 2022.
The panel heard that Mascia, who was off-duty at the time, attacked the woman on two separate occasions — in October and November 2022 — and issued a chilling death threat in October.
In a further act of intimidation, the disgraced officer also threatened to destroy her property if she refused to speak with him, on a date that was not specified during the proceedings.
Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell did not mince words in condemning Mascia’s actions: “PC Mascia’s behaviour was disgraceful, and fell far below the standards expected of Metropolitan Police officers.
The panel found that it amounted to gross misconduct, and he has been immediately dismissed.”
Mascia’s name will now be added to the College of Policing’s barred list, permanently banning him from serving in any policing or oversight body in the UK — including the police, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
This latest scandal raises fresh concerns over the conduct of officers within the Met, as public confidence in law enforcement continues to be tested by appalling individual failings.
