Paπic As Top Nigerian Policeman Caught For Robbery, Leading Gang Of Car Snatchers

A police inspector, Aminu Mohammed, has been arrested by the Kogi State Police Command for allegedly robbing homes near his duty station at ‘C’ Division in Lokoja, the state capital.

It was gathered that Inspector Mohammed was apprehended on Sunday following investigations into a series of robberies linked to a notorious gang specialising in stealing household items and cars.

SP William Aya, the Public Relations Officer, revealed to journalists in Lokoja on Tuesday that the officer’s luck ran out after the stolen car was traced to the workshop of his panel beater, Arome Moses, in Ochadamu near Anyigba.

Moses had already begun the process of changing the car’s colour.

The vehicle’s recognition by witnesses of a robbery on June 14, 2024, led to the alarm being raised. The car’s original plate number had been switched to an Abuja registration, and Inspector Mohammed had presented a backdated 2020 purchase receipt as proof of ownership.

“After the alarm was raised, the Quick Response Unit from the Police Area Command swiftly responded, leading to the arrest of the panel beater, Arome Moses,” SP William Aya stated.

He added that one of the arrested gang members, wanted for other crimes, confessed to the robbery and implicated Inspector Mohammed as the mastermind.

The gang member admitted they had been hired to steal the car from its owner’s house on behalf of the police officer.
